Guy Delisle’s Shenzhen (2000), Pyongyang (2003), Chroniques birmanes (2007), Chroniques de Jérusalem (2011). All of them great. My personal favourites are Jerusalem & Pyongyang.
Marjane Satrapi’s Persepolis (2000-2003)
Carlos Gimenez’ Paracuellos (1977-2022)
Joe Saco’s Palestine (1993-1995), Safe Area Goražde (2000), Footnotes in Gaza (2009), Paying the land (2020)... A pioneer in the use of comic for journalism. Earlier titles had a more “crazy” approach to drawing that I like, though my personal fav is Gaza
Zerocalcare’s Kobane calling
Igort’s Quaderni ucraini (2010), Quaderni russi (2011), Quaderni giapponesi (2015)
Sarah Glidden’s How to Understand Israel in 60 Days or Less (2016)
